St. Paul wears the tunic and mantle typical in images of apostles. He is identified by the inscription below his portrait and by his sword, book, and receding hairline. St. Lawrence, also identified by an inscription, holds his attribute, a gridiron, and wears a dalmatic signifying his status as a deacon.

St. Thomas Aquinas wears a Dominican habit with a field of stars on the mantle. The stars are not a usual feature of Thomas's portraits. On the shield in his hands is a shining sun, usually pictured on the breast of his habit. The inscription identifying him is not included in this photograph.
